Our Mission

DramaBiz Magazine provides the live theatre industry with well-tested business tools, easy-to-learn-from case studies and insightful direction to help theatre management succeed in running their organization.

The People
Julie Peterson, publisher
858.484.3936 x1

Having tried the acting route, Julie, or better casting and artistic directors, thought she would better serve the world of theatre behind the scenes. Forget the triple threat, Julie was absolutely no threat to actors gracing the stages in the Midwest. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Julie earned her degree in Journalism and Marketing and made a career out of taking up artistic and health-related causes. As the publisher of DramaBiz, Julie now passionately leads the cause to help keep theatres open and prosperous.

Joel M. Dorr, editor-in-chief
858.484.3936 x3

As an actor, director, producer and writer in the entertainment industry, Joel has been involved in theatre since his high school days, which he likes to relive from time-to-time. After attending the graduate program in Theatre at the University of Arizona, Joel immediately pursued acting and producing theatre. He took a turn in Hollyweird and decide to return to his first love, the theatre. Now as the editor-in-chief of DramaBiz, Joel can be frequently heard around the office reciting lines from a play or challenging an intern to theatre trivia while he continually takes up his fight for theatre.

Trish Aponte, Eastern Marketing Manager
858.663.2306

Though she makes her living primarily as an actor in New York City, Erin Cronican is drawn to the work at DramaBiz because it closely aligns with her own personal mission- to give others the tools they need to help grow their businesses successfully (she is also the owner of a business coaching service for actors called The Actors' Enterprise). Though Erin got her Bachelors Degree in Theater from Pepperdine University and has been acting professionally for 10 years, she spent 6 years in sales/marketing at an advertising magazine and spent 3 years as the Communications/Member Services Director of a non-profit theatrical organization. Erin is thrilled to be able to blend her marketing, business and theatrical skills for DramaBiz, and is eager to build a bridge between East Coast suppliers and theaters.

Georgina “George” Reid, Midwestern Marketing Manager
858.220.0648

Based in Minneapolis, Georgina, who goes by 'George' has been involved in the Arts since her days working in a theatre box office in Portland! As a fine artist and graphic designer, George can help you craft the perfect message and look to your ad! Furthermore, she is dedicated to helping you promote your products and services to the theatre community.

Blake Yelavich, Western Region
858.220.8023
As a theatre owner who physically transformed a cavernous empty cinder block shell into what one newspaper called "A Miracle to the local Arts Scene," Blake Yelavich understands what theatre owners and managers want from suppliers. He can help you craft a targeted marketing message because he knows what theatres need and want. Oh, and did we mention that he also worked a number of years in publishing? Blake is the perfect resource to help you build a marketing strategy that helps you get your message in front of the right decision-makers!
